A rich red "sang de boeuf" lacquered Chinoiserie buffet de corps bookcase cabinet, charmingly hand decorated on all sides with images of roses, clouds, swooping ho ho birds, maidens in a tower and men carrying lanterns! Elegant silver metal hinges and large ogee feet, this bookcase is put together in two parts and 39cm deep on the lower half with a narrower stepped upper section. The shelved inside is equally decorated in a dark green mottled lacquer with gold and silver rose and leaf detail. It is a piece that feels more antique than it is and dates c1970 from Spain. Fantastic quality and great proportions.
