An elegant cream lacquered two part secretaire bureau bookcase. The background lacquer work is painted with a mottled effect in order to resemble parchment or vellum and this is finally decorated with flowers and chinoiserie scenes in gold and silver detail of people on camels or horseback as well as resting under palm trees or parasols. The internal drawers, bureau and shelves are lacquered in mottled khaki green. Although the shape of the secretaire bureau is George III it is in fact later c1950's Spanish.
